Ms. Blaine's Class Expectations:
Attendance -- Ms. Blaine's classes are hands-on and project oriented. Missing class means you have less time to complete projects and tasks which you may not be able to work on at home. It is the student's responsibility to complete any work missed during an absence. Check the website for work missed- you are required to be responsible. Student's who miss one or more days of school must, upon return to school:
Promptness to class -- If you are late for class you will be given one warning. I expect that you will be in your seat when the bell sounds. Three tardy arrivals to class will be equivalent to one detention. If a teacher holds you longer, YOU must request a pass from that teacher. You cannot go back later and request a pass. Care of Equipment -- Expensive equipment such as we have in the computer labs and technology suite requires careful treatment. Any maltreatment of equipment will result in consequences. Tools and other materials must be put away correctly after each use. No food or drink in the computer lab/ technology suite - no exceptions. Class Work and Homework -- Professional quality work is expected. All class work is to be handed in on the assigned date. Students may have a day for every day they are absent outside class (with permission from instructor...me!) to hand in an assignment without penalty. If you are absent or need additional time in addition to regular class time, the lab is open during various times through out the day. The Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School is committed to a high standard of academic integrity in the academic community. In becoming a part of the academic community, students are responsible for honesty and independent effort. Failure to uphold these standards includes, but is not limited to, the following: plagiarizing written work or projects, cheating on exams or assignments, and collusion on an exam or project. Cheating includes looking at or copying from another student's exam, orally communicating or receiving answers during an exam, having another person take an exam or complete a project or assignment, using unauthorized notes, texts, or other materials for an exam, and obtaining or distributing an unauthorized copy of an exam or any part of an exam. Plagiarism means passing off as his/her own the ideas or writings of another (that is, without giving proper credit by documenting sources). Plagiarism includes submitting a paper, report or project that someone else has prepared, in whole or in part. Collusion is inappropriately collaborating on assignments designed to be completed independently. These definitions are not exhaustive. When there is clear evidence of cheating, plagiarism, collusion or misrepresentation, the instructor will take disciplinary action including but not limited to: requiring the student to retake or resubmit an exam or assignment, assigning a grade of zero or "F" for an exam or assignment; or assigning a grade of "F" for the course. Behavior in class -- Only mature and responsible behavior will be accepted in the technology suite and computer lab. Use of any foul language will result in loss of work/computer use for a given time! Respect your classmates and their property. Students are expected to be on time for class. Being late disrupts the lecture and your fellow students. The instructor has the right to take reasonable measures to ensure a class period free of disruptions. Students are expected to respect the safety of their peers and selves. NEVER throw anything, shove anyone, or smash-bash-or slam things in the lab or Technology Suite. These actions will result in an automatic removal from the classroom and a referral requesting administrative action. Software Piracy -- Law strictly prohibits unauthorized copying of software purchased by ELCS for use in laboratories. ELCS administration will take appropriate disciplinary action against anyone violating copyright laws. NO Downloading! Classroom Behavior Rubric
